Br’er Rabbit Tales: Then and Now

Join Sheila Arnold for the launch of her latest collection, Br’er Rabbit Tales: Then and Now, to usher in the spring season here at ISC. Rooted in African American folklore, Br’er (Brother) Rabbit is a classic example of a trickster figure, often outsmarting his powerful adversaries, Br’er Fox and Br’er Bear. The stories highlight the resilience of the resourceful rabbit, who uses his cunning to survive and, often, to prevail.

Arnold will share these entertaining but educational tales in various ways: some are told as originally written, some include a contemporary spin, but all illustrate the enduring importance of the stories for today’s world. This performance is intended for adults, but children may enjoy it as well.

You can purchase her recording on CD or USB in the ISC gift shop, where Sheila will be on hand to talk to folks and answer questions after the show.
