Destination Jonesborough

Historic Jonesborough, Tenn. was recently cited as an example of a model destination city – a go-to location with universal appeal for all things story.  The praise was made by Michael Hovland in a recent guest editorial in the Press-Citizen.  Hovland is a resident of Iowa City, Iowa – a location that was recently designated a UNESCO City of Literature.

In a town dubbed “the Storytelling Capital of the World,” it’s no surprise that storytelling reigns supreme in Jonesborough.  Most notably, the annual National Storytelling Festival finds its home in Jonesborough each October.  But it’s the town’s nearly year-round offerings of story-based activities – particularly Storytelling Live!, the International Storytelling Center’s renowned teller-in-residence series—that have some people talking.
