The International Storytelling Center is pleased to welcome Heather Forest from New York as this week’s teller in residence.
Heather Forest is a modern-day bard. Her storytelling performances are a fusion of poetry, prose, original melody, and the sung and spoken word. The comedy and pathos of point of view, the mysteries of womenfolk, the trickster, the fool, quests, and journeys are threads on the storyteller’s colorful loom.
Her folktale books and recordings have won numerous awards including the American Library Association’s Notable Recording Award and several Parents’ Choice Gold Awards. Her world-wide performances include The Smithsonian Institute, the Sidmouth International Folk Festival (England), and the Glistening Waters Storytelling Festival (New Zealand). She is a recipient of the NSN ORACLE Circle of Excellence Award.
“Her stories seamlessly and effortlessly move from the musical song to the spoken word and back again creating anew the form of the minstrel storyteller that is most uncommon in our day.” – Open Hand Theater
Forest will appear in matinee performances at 2 p.m., daily, Tuesday, July 10th through Saturday, July 14th. Reservations are recommended as seating is limited. For reservations call (800) 952-8392 or (423) 913-1276.
