Freedom Stories at the National Storytelling Festival

Watch master storyteller Sheila Arnold as she brings to life true tales from the Underground Railroad. This special session began the two-year Freedom Stories initiative. This session includes a special welcome from ISC President, Kiran Singh Sirah.

NOTE: In the performance recording (and subsequently in the transcript and the curriculum guide) Sheila Arnold refers to Nancy’s son as “Frames.” This is in line with what was understood from historical records in 2019 when this story was being researched and performed. However, it has come to light that this translation of historical documents is incorrect, and the son’s name was actually “Frank.”
