Known for her elegant, mesmerizing delivery and stories full of wisdom and truth, Anne Shimojima tells literary stories, folktales from around the world, and the true story of her Japanese American family’s incarceration in a WWII camp. A retired, award-winning school library media specialist, Shimojima has performed nationwide for over 40 years, including at the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the Asian American Storytelling Festival. In 2022, Anne was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Silver Rays, conferred by His Majesty the Emperor of Japan, for promoting Japanese culture in the United States and friendly relations and mutual understanding between Japan and the United States.
