Kids Storytelling Institute

5th Grade Teachers! Save the date to bring your students to the Kids Storytelling Institute with storyteller Tim Lowry.
This story-based initiative pairs up the curriculum with an immersive arts experience to create a unique
educational opportunity for teachers and students.
Program Description
Master Storyteller Tim Lowry will be offering his interactive one-man show, Thomas Edison: Ten Thousand Tries, where students will be treated to interpretive stories which include moments from Edison’s childhood, tales about how he developed the dynamo, and explore how electricity is made. At the end of the show, teachers will be given links to an online toolkit for expanded study lessons and students will have a science project to take home they can complete with common household items.

Location: International Storytelling Center, 100 West Main St., Jonesborough, TN 37659
Dates: Twice Daily shows Monday, November 14 through Friday, November 18
Show Times: 9-11am or 11:30am-1:30pm (choose one)
Cost: FREE
Lunch Option: Indoor space is available at the Center for brown bag lunches. Space is limited and reservations are required.

About Tim Lowry
Called a “human time machine,” storyteller Tim Lowry delivers engaging stories from periods of American History that are tailored to fit school curriculums and correlate to state standards. A certified teacher, Tim taught middle school language arts for five years. In 2000, Tim left the classroom to pursue a career as a professional storyteller. He is now hired as an educational consultant to bring creative and innovative programs to schools across the country and is approaching his 10,000th performance!
